Whose life forecast should be heeded?

News.cincinnati.com has a horoscopes section for each day for those who wish to read it. What is interesting about the horoscope on their website is that it is supplied by AccuWeather Inc. AccuWeather is responsible for weather forecasting across the United States and around the globe. Cincinnati residents use AccuWeather everyday for their information about what conditions will be outside. Now, Cincinnatians can use the same provider to find out what their astrological forecast might be. The need for information, especially a forecast of good and bad, is very high in the Cincinnati area.

In Leviticus 20:6, God told Moses and the people of Israel, “If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.” The people of God were, and still are, supposed to get their information and inspiration for each day from God alone. He is the source of life and joy. Jesus criticized the religious leaders of his time because, “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3). Horoscopes attempt to forecast daily life and potentially good or bad events that will happen in someone’s life; however, God has told his people to listen to his forecast for their lives.

God’s plans for people’s lives are not always clear or known; however, his plans are certain because he is the sovereign Lord of the universe. In Isaiah 55:9, God told Isaiah that “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Cincinnati Christians should be reliant on God for their daily “forecast.” God alone is the source life, joy, and every event of life. Therefore, Christians in Cincinnati should seek his will and plan for their lives instead of following an AccuWeather forecast. Job 31:2,4 reminds Christians in Cincinnati, “What would be my portion from God above
and my heritage from the Almighty on high... Does not he see my ways
and number all my steps?” Christians in Cincinnati: trust God with life each day, and follow his will because he has ordered every individual path of life.
