Whose better, Romeo Santos or Prince Royce?

It’s no secret as to the popularity of both these artists. Having similar backgrounds, and born and raised in the Bronx New York. Nevertheless, these groundbreaking artists also have something else in common. And that is their love and passion for music. It’s no surprise that Romeo Santos revolutionized Bachata music during the turn of the century with Aventura.

Fusing elements of R&B and Hip Hop, into what would be known as Urban Bachata. Armed with hits, and platinum records Romeo Santos have cemented his spot as one of the most sought after acts of the past two decades. Branding himself the king of Bachata is not just a cliché; it’s a fact he can back with credentials.

Then there’s Prince Royce, who in his own right has established himself as a direct threat to the King’s throne. Royce, whom gained mainstream popularity with his Bachata rendition of Ben E. King’s classic hit Stand By Me. And ever since, Prince Royce has been on a consistent rise to the top of the Latin Billboard charts.

More recently both artists made it to Billboards Social 50 chart. A popularity chart that measures an artist’s fan activity on sites such as YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, twitter and Sound Cloud to name a few. Since their debut on Social 50, Romeo Santos ranked at number 18, with Prince Royce one step ahead at number 17.

Does these rankings indicate a budding sign that maybe, just maybe Romeo Santos reign as King might be in jeopardy? Or will the King, stay the King as he so proudly boasts in his songs. You’ll have to admit though, if there’s anyone that can dethrone the King, it just might be Prince Royce. We’ll just have to wait and see!
