Whoopi Goldberg was the lone co-host coming back to “The View” next season until the announcement that Rosie O’Donnell is going to take another swing at it. Before start of the show today, Whoopi reprimanded all those who predict mayhem on the set for the next season. Whoopi said on Friday’s show that no matter who comes to the set of “The View,” they will act like “grown-ass women,” according to MSN News on July 11.
Somehow that “grown-ass women” quip negates the maturity point she was trying to make. Anyone who has seen Rosie in action on “The View” in the past knows how choppy those waters can get, unless she has drastically changed.
Whoopi pretty much had her say on "The View" and she wanted to do her best to put a halt to all these rumors that cat fights may be a frequent event on the new version of "The View." The show has all new replacements coming in, except for Whoopi, who did her best at dispelling the rumors of the recipe brewing for power struggles and cat fights for next season, suggests the Hollywood Gossip today.
Whoopi never mentioned a name, but many surmised she was addressing Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s spew on Rosie O’Donnell coming back to “The View.” Saying that the women who will co-anchor “The View” will act mature, or like “grown-ass women,” is like saying you won’t get stung if you stick your hand into a hornet’s nest. You just instinctively know that it won’t be the case with Rosie.
If you have seen hornets in action when anyone gets too near its nest, you know that they go on the warpath. If you have watched “The View” with Rosie on the set you know that it gets heated. At times it is almost like watching grade-school behavior when her line of questioning is more like bullying at times.
The case in point is the sparring event between Rosie and Hasselbeck, which is an episode that lives in infamy! Whoopi was cleaver with her speech on Friday, she got her point across loud and clear, but not a name was mentioned, so she warded off blow back for attacking an individual.
Whoopi said that “The View” is going to be what Barbara Walters set out to make it. A place where women can congregate and share their views on all kinds of topics of interests.
The famous movie star made sure to say her piece, as Hasselbeck did predict publicly that Rosie O’Donnell won’t take a backseat to anyone and will end up running the show. Pretty much it sounded as if Hasselbeck thought Whoopi would have a fight on her hands frequently.
Again Whoopi never mentioned a name but she did say:
"I'm just tired of people saying, 'oh, you know if this one comes in, or if this one comes in,' I don't argue with people, we have spirited discussions,'" Goldberg continued. "I don't fight with people, that's not my way. Quit trying to make me into something I'm not. I'm not a little girl with cat claws. I am not a cat, I am a human being. I am a girl with a fist. And so, I'm just telling y'all, 'The View' is going to evolve as it always has. Quit trying to make something happen and let whatever's going to happen, happen, and we hope you will join us when we come back."
While Hasselbeck's words on Rosie coming back were harsh, it sounded more as if she felt Whoopi would have a tough time on her hands, she didn't say anything that resembled a diss toward Whoopi. She didn't appear to say that Whoopi would act inappropriate, just that she might have a hard time at the helm.
