Two conservatives now on the show? (AP)
...well, kinda.
In sum: Colorado (like Michigan) bans smoking inside most buildings. The Colorado Supreme Court recently took a case by a group wanting an exemption for actors who smoked during theater plays. The court denied the request.
"Are you crazy?" asks Goldberg. "It's art!"
"If you are so concerned about what's going on on the stage, so concerned about your health, don't go to the show!"
I'm not sure Whoopi is necessarily against smoking bans (I sincerely doubt it), but she certainly makes the case here. There are a lot of things people do that are dangerous, but government doesn't need to hold our hand to make sure we make it through the day. And to paraphrase Whoopi; if you're so concerned about your health, don't go to a restaurant that allows smoking.

Actors don't need to use real guns on stage - they are ACTORS. I think the same case can be made for not having to use real cigarettes.
Whoopi's question says it all: "Are you crazy?" And the answer Whoopi, is that yes, they are crazy. The Antismokers were a very small group of crazy, marginal people back in the 1970s and a good bit of the 80s until they got a sudden infusion of tens of millions of dollars from a California cigarette tax. Today they get over nine hundred million dollars a year JUST from the Master Settlement Agreement tax on smokers.
That kind of money buys a lot of media, a lot of brainwashing, and a lot of craziness. While exposure to secondary smoke has gone down to roughly a third of what it was 20 years ago asthma rates have tripled. That amounts to a direct inverse correlation of about 900%... and yet you'll hear constantly that smoke exposure causes asthma.
Smoking bans are based on lies. To see some of those lies just google me and visit my web pages. TheTruthIsALie dot com is a good starter.

An alternative to smoking bans
If the public was honestly and truthfully informed about the effects of second-hand smoke, there would be fewer no-smoking laws in this country.
A little smoke from a handful of crushed leaves and some paper that is mixed with the air of a decently ventilated venue is going to harm or kill you?
There has never been a single study showing that exposure to the low levels of smoke found in bars and restaurants with decent modern ventilation and filtration systems kills or harms anyone.
As to the annoyance of smoking, a compromise between smokers and non-smokers can be reached, through setting a quality standard and the use of modern ventilation technology.
Air ventilation can easily create a comfortable environment that removes not just passive smoke, but also and especially the potentially serious contaminants that are independent from smoking.

She was talking about herb cigarettes that actors use, not tobacco! They banned them for no reason as they are not bad for your health
