Actresses Whoopi Goldberg and Uma Thurman lent their support to the Annual Gala to Benefit Room to Grow, held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on January 31, 2013 in New York City. And Whoopi ditched her sneakers for crocs, while Uma swapped her heels for flats!
Whoopi, famous for being an ardent sneaker and hightops wearer, swapped her customary footwear for a pair of Crocs – those wonderful, waterproof and comfortable garden clogs which were adapted to become fashion footwear a decade ago but are somewhat waning in popularity for tennis shoes…
The candy apple red and yellow patterned crocs – genuine Crocs or similar – accessorized a black corduroy or velvet smock that topped a white button-down shirt and blue jeans. A pearl necklace completed the look.
To illustrate her passion for sneakers, only a few days prior, Ms Goldberg attended the Garden Of Laughs benefit at Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 26, 2013 donning a pair of white sneakers.
Uma was also in black at the Benefit Room to Grow Gala, wearing a fitted LBD (little black dress) with three-quarter sleeves, which she teamed with her quilted black clutch bag by Chanel and black sandals.
Notice that she made a change of footwear between posing for photos, ditching her heels for a pair of flat sandals as she posed with Whoopi…
So was that about not upstaging Whoopi with footwear or was it more about a height issue… We’ll never know – the rest is just conjecture!
The two ladies mixed it up with Room to Grow founder Julie Burns, who donned a black skirt and sleeveless white top, accessorized with leopard pumps. Those pumps of course turned the entire outfit around! Doesn’t take a whole lot to add oomph to an outfit ladies…
Room to Grow Gala is an annual event held at the Mandarin Oriental in New York to raise funds that help to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty, supporting them through their critical first three years of development.
Take a look at their outfits in my slideshow and thanks for visiting…
