If you're like me, then you love a good bargain.
Which means you should be heading straight to Whole Foods and buying mass quantities of Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade. The sale is as follows: pick up five 32-ounce bottle of their organic lemonade for $5 dollars.
What makes this brand a good one? The makers at Santa Cruz use cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, and all ingredients are organic. Lemons typically have alot of pesticides, so you're safe with this product. They even have limeaid and a delectable cherry lemonade flavor. Make the most of these warm southern California days by adding a shot of rum, vodka and ice. Whatever works for you!
I've listed my new favorite summer cocktail below, a Basil Lemon Kiss. Of course it tastes better with all fresh ingredients, but this lemonade makes a fast and simple recipe. Keep it healthy by not finishing the whole bottle of vodka.
Read the rest later and get to Whole Foods now! They close at 10pm.
Mona's Basil Lemon Kiss
First, prepare the basil syrup:
- 3 cups packed fresh basil sprigs
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- zest of one lemon
Place the first three ingredients in the base of a glass and mash everything to a pulp with a wooden spoon.
For the cocktail, fill the bottom of the glass with the basil syrup. Pour a generous shot of good quality vodka then the lemonade to taste, or approximately four ounces. Shake or mix together with ice until cold. Garnish that baby with a sprig of basil, and watch the evening melt into night.
