All three Hartford-area Whole Foods stores are having a Chocolate Fest this weekend. If you are thinking of giving chocolate as a gift next week, you can sample a variety of chocolate confections, including raw and vegan. Each store has different day and hours for the event:
- 50 Raymond Road in West Hartford - Thursday, February 7th from 5 to 7 p.m.
- 55 Welles St. in Glastonbury - Friday, February 8th from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
- 3040 N. Main St. in West Hartford (Bishops Corner) - Saturday, February 9th from noon to 2 p.m.
The Whole Foods blog contains other gift suggestions, including healthier options such as Cinnamon Roasted Pineapple with Macadamia Nut Cream, Lemon Treats packed with fruit and seeds and nuts, or Raw Fudge. Of course, you can go more traditional with their Heart-Thumping Chocolate Recipes or follow their list of gift ideas throughout the store, including fair trade roses.
On Tuesday, February 12th, the West Hartford Center store is offering a "50 Shades of Chocolate" class, in which you can taste and discuss the flavor profiles of some of the most special chocolates that their Specialty department offers. You have to sign-up at customer service or call 860-523-8500 to reserve your seat, because space is limited for this once a year class on chocolate.
