Animal Legal Defense Fund, representing Compassion Over Killing (COK), has provided a horrific video uncovered by their investigators accusing Cal-Cruz Hatcheries Inc. of animal abuse. The January 2012 video and Whole Foods to stand by well raised poultry for their consumers were confirmed, according to the Huff Post Green.
Whole Foods website touts their high standards for animal welfare in their products for their consumers. On their website, their ties with Global Animal Partnership on their 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards ensure the quality and care of all their meats raised for consumer consumption.
Upon the release of this story, a call to my local Whole Foods Market referred all inquiries to this matter over to their regional office email; still awaiting confirmation and current status as to where their chickens are coming from currently in their markets.
