If you shop for groceries at Whole Food Market in Miami’s South Beach, consider holding off until June 30. Why?

The Whole Foods Market in Miami Beach has selected Dream in Green as a beneficiary of its Community 5 Percent Day on Monday, June 30, during the hours of 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The store is located at 1020 Alton Road in Miami Beach.

The Whole Foods Market 5% Day initiative was designed to benefit local nonprofit organizations. On designated days throughout the year, a total of five percent of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers can help support Dream in Green just by shopping on June 30.

Dream in Green is dedicated to creating educational programs that raise environmental sustainability awareness in schools and the community. The organization aims to instill the values of stewardship and deepen understanding of environmental issues confronting the local and global communities.

By shopping at Whole Foods South Beach on June 30, you'll support their flagship program, the Green Schools Challenge, which reaches over 100,000 students annually. Since its inception, the program has saved the Miami-Dade County Public School District $4.6 million in energy costs, conserved 9.4 million Kilowatt hours of electricity, and offset 22.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions - the equivalent of taking 775 homes off the electricity grid for an entire year.

New this year is the Water Energy Learning and Behavior program (WE-LAB) which teaches residents and students about the relationship between water and energy and seeks to motivate community-wide water-energy-saving behaviors and foster long-term environmental stewardship through money-saving actions.

Stay green, stay safe and stay aware, guys and gals.
