Top news coming in to a dull San Francisco today is about the Mega Millions jackpot. Many people in San Francisco went ahead and bought a ticket yesterday, hoping it would contain the winning numbers.
The jackpot was a huge $636 million.
"Well I was hopeful that I might win something. The temptation was too much to resist," says San Francisco resident, Katie Adler. "Oh well, perhaps next time," she chuckles.
Alas Katie was not one of the winners with the required numbers of 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39, and the Mega Ball number 7.
So who did win then? It turns out there were two winners, says
FOX News on Wednesday.
In Georgia, the winning ticket was sold at a Gateway Newsstand.
In California, the ticket was sold in Jennifer's Gift Shop, in Tully Road.
However, it could be that the winners do not yet know they have won a huge amount of money. That's because nobody has yet claimed the winnings.
The answer then is to check if you might be one of the winners if you have bought a ticket in either of those locations.
As a reminder, those winning numbers are 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39, and the Mega Ball number is 7.
This Mega Millions lottery is the second largest ever in the history of the United States.
