With the CMA awards fast approaching everyone’s putting their two cents in as to who they think deserves to win this year. People Magazine recently gave their own opinions on the issue. Here’s what they think as well as my own opinions.
Entertainer of the Year
People magazine seems unsure of whether Paisley, Swift or Chesney will be taking home this award. Swift made country news with this category by being the first female solo artist in nine years to snag this nomination, but she doesn’t seem to have the experience that the other artist on the list have. Chesney’s walked away with this award for the past four years and he’s going for a record five times for this year, and with the fact that he’s taking a break from performing during 2010 they may give it to him. This writer, however, will be rooting for Paisley to take home the award.
Female Vocalist of the Year
People Magazine seems to have given this category to Swift, and that makes sense, since she and McBride are the only ones to have released CD’s during the eligibility period. When forced to choose between McBride and Swift, Swift would be the one to choose. She’s had hit after hit throughout the year and it seems impossible to avoid her whether it be on the radio or on the TV and after Kanye’s stunt at the CMA’s she’s only grown in likeability.
Male Vocalist of the year
This category is jam packed with incredibly talented musicians that all deserve to win this award. People magazine believes that Paisley will be walking away with this award yet again, however, even they seemed to have a hard time deciding. As a new artist to country music it’s doubtful that Rucker will win this award despite his three consecutive number one singles. For Chesney this year has been weak, and it’s appearing to be a race between Strait and Paisley, and since Paisley’s a personal favorite so I’ll leave it there and see who wins night of
