A FEW NAMES DISCUSSED FOR SPIDER-MAN
With Marc Webb announced a while back as the new director for Sony’s new Spider-Man trilogy, it is rather obvious that the next question to ask would be “who will play Peter Parker?” The new direction is supposed to take us back to Spidey’s high school years. Naturally, people would be looking into younger actors for the role in their predictions, suggestions, and/or rumors.
So far, a few names have come up, some sound ridiculous, some have already been disclaimed. Names such as Twilight’s Robert Pattinson, Disney star David Henrie, High School Musical star Zac Efron, and now, the name of Logan Lerman, who stars in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
This is nothing new as casting rumors is a pastime for many. For comic book films, it seems to be a passion for some whenever a new character is said to make his or her film debut. The aforementioned names are not all serious rumors. Some like Robert Pattinson and Logan Lerman have already been shot down. But Sony Pictures is definitely looking for their star wall-crawler and the supporting cast. The filming is supposedly planned to begin this summer to be ready for a summer 2012 release.
JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS TRAILER
For DC Comics fans, a commonly discussed subject is the multiverse. It is a very complex thing and although the comic book giant has attempted on numerous occasions to organize it, they leave the fans a little more mixed up. Nevertheless, a lot of interesting stories have come out this multiverse. Now, it is being brought to us in animated form.
Both Marvel and DC have their direct-to-DVD animated divisions. Marvel has just released Planet Hulk and DC is not planning on sitting this one out. On February 23rd, they will be releasing their next animated film, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. The story follows the Justice League of America as they go up against the Crime Syndicate, a team of villains from another world in the multiverse. What makes this Crime Syndicate different than any other villain team? They are evil versions of the Justice League members. And to top it all off, the one who recruits the super-heroes to save the day is none other than Lex Luthor, who in the alternate universe is a hero. Together they face an evil that threatens to destroy both their worlds.
The trailer is at the bottom of the page. The DVD will be in stores on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010.
THOR: TALES OF ASGARD CLIP
A while back, I wrote an article about the next Marvel Animation direct-to-DVD film, Thor: Tales of Asgard. There was some footage that made its way online that showed the opening sequence of the film. It was quickly removed at the request of Lions Gate, who distributes the Marvel Animation films, because it is a special feature for the recently released Planet Hulk DVD. It didn’t take long for this footage to make its way online since the film’s release. The footage is at the bottom of the page.
The film will follow the Norse god of thunder and his half-brother Loki when they were kids in the realm of Asgard. It could very well be the prequel to the live-action film to get some not-so-familiar fans up to speed with the characters of Thor’s world. No word yet on when this DVD will be released. One can assume it will coincide with the Kenneth Branagh directed film that will star Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Thor and Loki respectively, scheduled for a May 6th, 2011 release.
