In the feeding trough of a barn was a Baby. Nearby was his mama watching his sweet, sleeping face. Maybe she was wondering what God would do through this Baby when he was an adult. Would He be a carpenter like his earthly dad? Seems like he'd be different. Seems like He'd be a people person...Probably a preacher.
This little Christmas Baby was going to be anointed. That means the Holy Spirit would use Him powerfully and would be very near and in His heart. The Holy Spirit would enable Him to preach a message of hope and set the captives free. He would give sight to the blind and much more. All would be done with love from a compassionate heart.
The total package of Love and power was in a feeding trough. A gift to us for us to mimic. We should be near the Holy Spirit and allow Him to be in us. He can use us to gently, respectfully preach the wonderful message of our Savior, pray and give love in tangible ways. Because there is a time when the love and gifts from God will be "profuse."
And there was handed to Him [the roll of] the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened (unrolled) the book and found the place where it was written, [Isa. 61:1, 2.] The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound]. [Isa. 61:1, 2.] (Luke 4:17-19 AMP)
