Who was the winner of Dancing with the Stars 2010?

The 2010 Dancing with the Stars champions were announced this evening during the two hour finale. Nicole Scherzinger and professional partner Derek Hough were the proud recipients of the highly coveted Mirror Ball Trophy.
The three finalists were narrowed down to two, after dancing their favorite dance of the season. In a weird twist of fate, all three Dancing with the Stars finalists chose to perform an Argentine Tango. The judges ranked each contestant in either first, second or third place. Sadly, Erin Andrews and professional partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, placed third.
After the judges scores were added to the votes from viewers, Erin and Maks had the lowest combined score, thus eliminating them from the Dancing with the Stars competition, just one dance shy of the championship.
What did Erin take away from her Dancing with the Stars experience? "This experience has meant everything to me...You guys have been amazing, Maks has helped me to get my life back."
The two Dancing with the Stars finalists performed one final dance for the judges.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 winners, Nicole Scherzinger and professional partner, Derek Hough, performed a Jive that earned them high praise from the judges, along with a perfect score. In all honesty, had I not known that Nicole was the Dancing with the Stars celebrity, I would have been hard pressed to tell the difference between the novice and professional dancer.
Evan Lysacek and professional partner, Anna Trebunskaya, performed a Quick Step that was truly amazing. You could not help from falling in love with Evan. Dancing with the Stars transformed him from a shy, unsure dancer into a charming and sexy performer. However, Evan's performance was not as polished as Nicole's and his score reflected the fact.
Evan Lysaek would not win Dancing with the Stars 2010.
In the end, only one Dancing with the Stars finalist could emerge victorious. When the judges score was tallied with the votes from fans all around the globe, Nicole Scherzinger and professional partner, Derek Hough, emerged as the winners of Dancing with the Stars 2010.
If you are a Dancing with the Stars enthusiast like me, don't despair. This season may be over, with the announcement of the 2010 Dancing with the Stars winners, but this mega hit reality television show will return on September 20, 2010. I can't wait to learn who the celebrity cast members will be!

This show has lost me as a viewer - and quite a few others from what I hear. Nicole - nice lady and all that - but she's a trained dancer. True - maybe not the formal training in these formal dances - but she knows what is involved in creating a routine and how to train for one. She's also been dancing on stage - in front of live audiences for years. Same for the charming Evan. Nice guy - granted - his previous dances have been on ice - but he knows routines, choreaography, etc. It was really wrong for ABC to have these two ringers. Not all audience viewers know much about these two folks. I guess they were going for recognizeable names - but they lost me.
