Who was the 2009 Kids' Choice Awards host?

Nickelodeon, in its 30th year, is the number one entertainment brand for kids and has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first.  The company includes television programming and production, both in the United States and around the world.  In addition are consumer products, online, recreation, books, magazines and feature films.

Nickelodeon’s U.S. television network is seen in more than 96 million households, having been rated number one as the basic cable network for 14 consecutive years.

The
Kids’ Choice Awards began with Alan Goodman, Albie Hecht and Fred Seibert.  They first called the awards show The Big Ballot in 1986, named for the ballots kids voted with.  In 1988, it was renamed the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.  Now it is even possible to vote online at nick.com.

Orange Blimp Award - In 1990, the now familiar orange blimp award was introduced.  Previously the award was a gold statue shaped to look like a beret- wearing child standing up with his right leg crossed and holding up a long orange stick, with the word “Nickelodeon” inscribed on it - okay, do you have “that” pictured in your mind’s eye?  I’m curious about that award and would like to see one.  If someone else finds one first, let me know, thanks.

Unlike other award shows, the Kids’ Choice Awards uses other things instead of envelopes as part of the presentation.  The show sometimes uses balloons, T-shirts, giant letters, and other wacky stuff - of course!

Locations - The Awards have typically been held in Los Angeles, California at the Pauley Pavilion at UCLA, the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the Hollywood Bowl, the Grand Olympic Auditorium in L.A., and Universal Studios in Universal City, California.  They can be followed by their year at youtube and a variety of other sites, many found here.  How about Best Male Singer in UK for 2007?

Hall of Fame award, a gold version of the Blimp award, was presented to those whose accomplishments, fame and popularity set them above everyone else.  Initially the award was chosen by the kids from a slate of nominees - actors, athletes and singers were all eligible for the award.

The Wannabe Award
, in 2001, replaced the Hall of Fame Award.  This Wannabe Award being a silver version of the Blimp award and presented to the best celebrity role model or inspiration - in other words whom the kids wanted to be like.  The winner is determined prior to the awards, and is not voted upon by the kids.  (so someone else decides who the kids want to be like?)  As of 2008 the only person to have won both of these awards is Will Smith.

Mystery sliming also happens during the awards ceremony.  A celebrity might not know if they will be slimed onstage or off, and that includes the hosts.
