The popular television game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" will be in Hartford holding open auditions from 4p - 7p for CT residents, who are interested in competing on a future episode of the show as reported by WTNH Channel 8 News on Tuesday June 3.
Details explain that each participant must be at least 18 years of age, residing in one of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, and meet all eligibility requirements. Also, a completed application must accompany each participant to the audition being held at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106 on Tuesday June 3.
The quiz show just recently wrapped up Season 12 with one of the legendary "Kings of Comedy/Actor, Cedric the Entertainer, as the host. However, "Ceddy" will not be returning as host of Season 13 as it was announced back in April, by Entertainment Weekly, that "Cedric the Entertainer is leaving the syndicated game show... after only one season as host."
EW reports Cedric cited the show moving its production to Connecticut and his schedule as part of the reason for his exit. “With the many television and film projects that I have going on which shoot and promote in various parts of the country, a production-base in Connecticut would make it quite difficult to maneuver the many moving parts on my plate,” he said in a statement. “So, after much thought and some serious conversations with senior executives at the studio, I decided to let Disney-ABC know that, unfortunately, I’m not able to continue on as host.”
With Cedric stepping out, someone has to step in and take his place and Deadline.com confirmed that actor and former NFL player, Terry Crews, has been selected to fill the spot. Reports state that "Crews had been exploring doing a syndicated show and met with several studios, with Disney-ABC jumping in with the Millionaire offer."
The audition being held at the Hartford Bushnell Center could be one of several auditions to come with production being moved to Stamford, CT where the network is expected to benefit from a tax break.
Season 13 of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" launches in the Fall of 2014.
