The 4th Annual Shorty Awards are held annually to award who is using the social networking site Twitter not only the best but in the most positive way. Whether it is through activism, design, music or movies these people do what it takes to get the word out there either about themselves or for others. Twitter has become quite a large networking site, only second to Facebook, and has established careers for many different people. Here are the people that you should be nominating and why they should be up for this prestigous award.
Activism- Dan Savage (@Dan_Savage)- For what Dan has done with the fantastic "It Gets Better" campaign and movement speaks volumes for not only the gay youth of the world but for a variety of people alike. His Google Chrome commericals not only made people cry but focus as well, to stop this bullying epidemic that is taking place right now in our schools. He wants people to realize that we are all alike, and to not be judged on your sexuality, as well as race and other parts of yourself that make you beautiful. He deserves this award by far for what he has done.
Music- Stose (@StoseOPM)- Done a bunch of blogs about him in 2011, and 2012 should be his year to shine. An up and coming rapper out of San Francisco by New York City, he has the raw talent and energy that matches the likes of Machine Gun Kelly and dare I say it, Eminem. Vote for this guy and let him blow up like he should!
Music- Dussel Has Friends (@dhfmusic)- Some of the coolest guys I have ever met in my life. Got to interview them about a year ago, and I am constantly impressed with the work they put out there. They deserve to be nationally known and recognized as one of the few bands that can blend a good amount of rock and hip hop together and make it sound awesome.
Celebrity- Neil Patrick Harris (@actuallyNPH)- Honest to god one of the funniest guys in television and movies and is so charasmatic and charming without being an ass. "How I Met Your Mother" is getting better than ever thanks to him, and he should just continue to host award show after award show because besides Billy Crystal no one does it better right now.
Comedian- Joel McHale (@joelmchale)- I don't have a lot on television that I love to watch anymore. "Community" and "The Soup" happen to be two of the ones that I do love. Joel is hysterical in so many ways, from his dry wit and sarcasm to his dead on comedy approaches that make him truly the comedian that he is today. Here is to hoping that "Community" comes back sooner and NBC keeps this hilarious sitcom alive!
Blogger- Uhh... Me. (@hiphopblogger61)- If this makes me seem selfish I am sorry for that, but I have done my best over the past year to blog about whatever is going on in the music world big or small. I love what I do and have such a passion for it, that to even be nominated for this award would be such an honor. Hopefully you guys will help me out and vote for me!!
