Let's face it, there are pleanty of resources now availble to anyone who wants to lose weight and get fit. However, these articles are here to address the real day-to-day (and sometimes minute-by-minute) struggles that we face to do the work, make the changes and for some of us, finally get the body and the health that we are fighting for.
One of the issues that is difficult to deal with is how we start to notice changes in our bodies as time goes by and as we work our magic each day. It's not that the changes aren't good; on the contrary. It is a great feeling to start seeing the chins start to melt away and we notice our jaw lines are a lot sharper than they used to be. Oh, and there is suddenly space between our sides and our hanging arms. We start to wonder "who's body is this?"
The problems begin when we start noticing a body that we haven't seen in years, if ever, and other people start to notice too. It can be very scary when the comments start flowing and when we start to feel like a stranger in our own bodies, but this is the time to pay special attention to ourselves and how we react to the attention in order to avoid falling back on some of the "safety" behaviors that helped us to create the weight gains in the first place. As comforting as it may feel to eat our way back into the shape that has been with us for years when the changes start to be noticable, we will never get out of this cycle if we don't have a safeguard in place to turn to when things get scary.
So here is a little something to help: Write me at debbi.g.brown@gmail.com when things get scary or when your body starts to turn into one you don't recognize, or just whenever you need to let someone know how hard it is to make these changes that are making such a difference in your life. If I can't find the answers, than I will find a resource who can. I hope this helps!
