Who protects children the Stars leave behind?

It is tragic when a star we admire is "gone too soon” ...but what about the young children they often leave behind. Seeing Michael Jackson’s beautiful children on T.V really made me pause to wonder...what happens to them, who will look after them, protect them, provide for them?

Temporary custody has been granted to Grandmother Katherine Jackson, who Michael entrusted to be guardian. But some are concerned over her age, and Joe Jackson’s possible involvement in their lives. Recent reports have also speculated that Jackson’s former wife Debbie Rowe who may seek custody may not be the biological Mother of Jackson’s children Prince Michael, and Paris. If so where does this leave them?

Their father, Michael Jackson was a "Pop Icon" since childhood. During his life he had to constantly maneuver the wannabees , scammers, and moochers...But how can a child handle this situation and come out unscathed? How can they really trust anyone is there for them, and NOT the money?
I really feel for them...
 

This all brings up memories of the case of little “Dannielynn” the beautiful daughter of the late Actress, model Anna Nicole Smith. Smith for reasons known only to her had fled the USA to the Bahamas. After her son Daniel’s death hers too ended tragically. This left Dannielynn without her mother.

Dannielynn was fortunate to still have a father Larry Birkhead who wanted to care for her. All reports are that he has “ risen to the occasion”, as wonderful Father, and she seems to be growing up happy and healthy.

Other stars who have recently left children behind after death are Australian actor Heath Ledger who died of a drug over dose before this blockbuster film “Dark Knight” was released. He left behind a beautiful young daughter Matilda Rose, who was left in a legal battle over her fathers estate. Heath’s father Kim Ledger is reported to have said, that he considered the financial well-being of his granddaughter Matilda Rose the Ledger family's "absolute priority" and her mother, Michelle Williams, "an integral part of our family," adding "They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be."

Another high profile death in recent headlines was that of Actor comedian John Ritter who left behind a wife actress Amy Yasbeck and children Carly, Tyler, Jason ,and Stella. His death which came suddenly was also the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit

I think most have compared the scrutiny and paparazzi frenzy Michael Jackson experienced everyday to what Princess Diana went through. Diana Princess of Wales was killed in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris along with Dodi Al-Fayed on August 31, 1997. It is widely believed they were fleeing the paparazzi when the crash occurred. She is survived by her son’s Princes William and Harry who were very young at the time of her death. Since her death they have been under the same media and public microscope that their Mother had to endure.

The heartfelt speech by Jackson’s beautiful daughter Paris today about her “Daddy” touched millions. Paris along with her brothers Prince Michael, and Blanket held themselves with such grace and dignity during the service. We can only hope the rest of the people around them will conduct themselves in the same way, and truly look out for the “best interest” of these precious children.
