Today, the first day of April, is traditionally called April Fool’s Day. On this day some people play practical jokes or pranks on other people and afterwards proclaim ”April Fools” in an attempt to keep the victim of their prank from taking some form of vengeance on them.
While some people only play practical jokes on April Fool’s Day, there are some other people that play practical jokes or pranks on people so much during the year that it becomes part of their personality and reputation. Thus, when people interact with them they don’t know if their actions are genuine or more foolishness.
When it comes to spiritual or religious matters, there can also be a lot of fooling around happening in many ways. The first way is how some people put on a show of being spiritual on Sunday or special occasions for various reasons and then during the week they go back to their usual living according to worldly values.
A second way of foolishness happening in spiritual areas is when people become deceived into thinking that if they go to some religious services and do some good things for some people; then maybe God will overlook the many bad things that they have done in their life when they stand in front of God’s judgment after they physically die.
A third way of being fooled in the spiritual realm is the way the Devil and his demonic spiritual forces deceive some people into thinking that there isn’t any God who will bring any judgment on them after they die. Therefore, they think that they can ’live it up’ and indulge in every fleshly temptation and hurt many people without any sense of judgment coming for what they have done in their life.
There are many other demonic deceptions that are used to keep people from coming to God, asking His forgiveness for breaking His laws, and developing a close relationship with God.
Unless people use God’s power to break out of those demonic deceptions that are blinding them from seeing the reality of God’s impending judgment and while they are still physically living ask God to forgive them for breaking His laws and develop a covenantal relationship with God through asking Jesus Christ to become their personal Savior; then after they physically die they will go and face God’s judgment for what they have done in their lives. When that happens, no amount of rationalizations or silly excuses will be able to overcome God’s righteous sentence of spiritual death from being imposed on them for breaking his laws.
In Revelation 20:11-12, 15 (NASB) God proclaims that: “I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it . . . And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds . . . and if anyone’s name was not written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
The way for people to avoid such a dreadful scenario as being thrown into the lake of fire and have to live with the Devil there forever is to have their name written in the book of life by having a faith-covenantal relationship with God through first asking God to forgive them for breaking His laws and then ask Jesus Christ to become your personal Savior and spiritually apply His sacrificial atonement on the cross to their life.
When people do those things, then God will forgive them for breaking God’s laws, remove the spiritual death sentence that they deserved for breaking God’s laws, transfer them out of the Devil’s spiritual kingdom of darkness, make them a member of God’s spiritual kingdom of light, make God’s newly restored creation, and send the Holy Spirit to live inside of them to give them the insight and ability to live according to God’s principles of living found in the Bible.
As Christians daily read the Bible to learn God’s principles and talk to God in prayer, they can develop a close relationship with God that will help them overcome the many problems that they will have during the rest of their journey of life.
The more Christians use the power of the Holy Spirit to live according to God’s principles as they go through their daily activities, the more they will become a brightly shining beacon in the midst of the many forms of darkness found in our modern society and the more they will show that they found the real thing, rather than just fooling around with various deceptions.
