Who Got Sent Home on The Bachelor 2013, Week 5 - Feb. 5: Canadian Rockies Recap

Tuesday night (Feb. 5), Bachelor Sean whisked the ladies away to the Canadian Rockies. The group stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and enjoyed amazing, if frigid, surroundings. Catherine scored the first one-on-one and found herself riding in a horse-drawn buggy. When the buggy stopped, Catherine and Sean found themselves in front of a magical looking ice castle; inside, Catherine shared memories about seeing someone suddenly killed in front of her as a child and how much she appreciates the uncertainty of life. This, she said, explained her strong desire to have a family. This endeared Sean to her, and she gladly accepted the rose he later offered.

Later on the second half the The Bachelor Season 17 Week 5 two-parter, there was yet another physically-grueling group date. (This is becoming a theme with Sean on both group and one-on-one dates; Catherine got off pretty easy on her one-on-one!) This time, the ladies were asked to join Bachelor Sean Lowe as he participated in a "polar bear plunge" into the freezing depths of Lake Louise. Only Selma wouldn't do it; Ashlee hesitated at first, too, but soon relented and joined in to try and win Sean's affections.

Tierra began acting as though she were suffering from hypothermia following the plunge into Lake Louise, shivering uncontrollably and saying she couldn't breathe; some of the other bachelorettes, including Ashlee, gossiped that Tierra was faking her symptoms. Tierra was treated by medics and soon appeared much better. So much so, that she irritated the other ladies by showing up at a party later that night when everyone thought she was stuck in bed, hooked up to oxygen. Tierra made quite the quick recovery!

Now, on to the good stuff: just who went home on The Bachelor 2013 Week 5 (Feb. 5)? You may think it's too soon; we haven't even recapped the third date! Well, Bachelor Sean Lowe had a trick up his sleeve this week: cut a girl loose before the rose ceremony to "spare" her from him waiting, only dragging out the inevitable. During the group date party, Sean pulled Sarah aside to give her the news. "I don't want to wait for the rose ceremony when I know tonight," Sean said in a voice-over before breaking Sarah's heart.

Next, Desiree went on a one-on-one date with Sean. The two visited Mount Tunnel, which Sean soon informed Desiree they would be repelling down from to a picnic below. Hesitant, Desiree complied and, with some minor difficulty, made it to the bottom. (These are some adventurous girls ABC cast for season 17! Color us impressed.) Later, the two went for a walk in the woods and found a romantic tee-pee set up for them. Sean presented Desiree a rose, and in voice-over, told us, "I could see myself proposing to her."

During Tuesday's The Bachelor 2013 Week 5 (Feb. 5) rose ceremony, it was down to Tierra, Daniella and Selma, with only one rose for the three of them. Inexplicably, Sean gave the final rose to Tierra, sending both Daniella and Selma home; this mean it wasn't two, but three women who got sent home on The Bachelor tonight (Feb. 5), and a total of five for the week: Jackie, Robyn, Danielle, Selma and Sarah!
