It is never an understatement to say that as a woman your waist is one of the toughest places to tone and tighten. To get a new you, you need to get a new outlook on ab workouts.
First thing is to forget about the standard sit up. Doing these alone will only bulk up your mid-section, instead of making it long and lean. Second thing, remember that your waist is not only your stomach but your oblique's, lower and mid back, hips and buttock. You want to strengthen, length and tone your ENTIRE core or powerhouse.
What is the secret? Cardio. Cardio is used to reduce fat, while also toning muscle. But you can't just do cardio and get a six pack. The killer combination to a rockin' powerhouse is to do about 30 minutes of cardio and immediately follow it with at least 20 minutes of core work. The reason this is so effective is that by the time you start your core workout your metabolism is already sky high and in the optimal position to burn tons of fat. Focusing all of your attention on the muscles in your powerhouse brings that fat burning directly to place you want to shred: your waist.
Cardio workouts: There are so many to choose from but make sure you incorporate at least one that focuses on plyometrics (jump training). This type of cardio really boosts metabolism because of the combination of static and explosive movements.
Powerhouse workouts: When it comes to your powerhouse get a workout that hits every muscle and if possible one that begins with a cardio abdominal warm-up. This will only speed up your results.
