"I found out last night, and am still in shock and deeply saddened by the tragic news of Whitney Houston's death. Gone way too soon, so young, so beautiful.

Her vocal talents were one of a kind. She was in a class by herself paving the way for many dynamic songstresses to follow.

She has been an inspiration to me from the beginning when I fell in love with her big sound and unique vocal styling that separated her from the rest."

Carlene Mitchell is an award-winning, talented singer herself, as well as a wonderful tribute artist.

This talented entertainer is formerly trained with a variety of experiences in voice, dance and television production. Mitchell was trained in classical music, and other various musical styles.

Not unlike Whitney Houston, Carlene Mitchell’s sultry style and grace has captivated audiences of all ages and cultures.

Here Mitchell shares, one year later.

"A year later... yet it feels like just yesterday. I still deeply mourn for the loss of Whitney as if she were my blood relative.

She is very dear to me, my sister in Christ anointed with a voice and soul that pierced through the hearts of many - yesterday, today, and tomorrow. To some, she was very misunderstood, but to most, she is very much missed.

We truly lost greatness! With the melody playing in our heads, and the beautiful memories cherished in our hearts, like the song, "[Whitney], We Will Always Love You!"
