Whitney Houston is dead.
The star, who has gone through so many severe and often life-challenging ups and downs, has passed, although what happened is not yet known.
Ironically, the sad breaking news about this American idol comes one day before the Grammy Awards, a time when this undeniable diva should be participating. But she's gone and the world is in shock as seen by the offerings on social media sites.
While zillions of messages and memories poured in, Richard Roeper posted the photo to the left on Twitter, saying:
"Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, when he was about 30 and she was about 25..."
According to the AP, Houston's publicist said that the singer has, indeed, died, but Kristen Foster did not disclose any details.
Whitney Houston was a power to be reckoned with, her voice a weapon of such strong resolve one could not help but listen. For decades, this quintessential singer was at the top of her game, becoming a cross-over artist that made R&B and pop meld seamlessly.
While her drug use has been documented, as was her tortured marriage to Bobby Brown, her talent always shined through. She will be greatly missed.
RIP, Whitney Houston, RIP.
