Pop icon Whitney Houston is dead. According to this credible CNN report, Whitney Houston was found dead at approximately 4PM Saturday afternoon inside a room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Houston's lifeless body was found by a bodyguard.
Emergency responders reportedly attempted C.P.R. on Houston for over 20 minutes, but to no avail. The late singer was just 48 years old at the time she died. Houston was long known to have battled substance abuse problems, though there is no word yet if her struggles with addiction may have contributed to her death.

We reached out to the Beverly Hills Police Department Saturday night for comment on Whitney Houston's death, but their after-hours media line went straight to voicemail. According to CNN, however, Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen has stated that there are no obvious signs of foul play in regards to the entertainer's demise. The death is under investigation, and a cause of death has yet to be determined or made public.
Celebrity reaction to Houston's death is coming fast and furious across social media, with many stars taking to Twitter to share their thoughts. Fellow singer Aretha Franklin tweeted, "It's so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen." Franklin continued in a follow-up tweet, "My heart goes out to Cissy, her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby."
Another legendary female songstress, Dolly Parton, expressed her sadness with a message on her web site Saturday. "Mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performances she did on my song, and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed.'"
