Whitney Houston who is known world wide for her powerful voice and seven straight Billboard No. 1 hits has died, reports CNN.
TMZ said that their sources told them "a member of Whitney's entourage found her in her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel... and called hotel security -- who then dialed 911. When paramedics arrived Houston was found unresponsive."
She was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Several attempts were made to resuscitate her.
Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen has said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent" and that a medical examiner will determine the cause of her death.
Whitney sold more than 10 million recordings and videos over her career. She was best known for her 1980 hits like "Saving All My Love for You," "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," "How Will I Know," and "Greatest Love of All." The soundtrack for the movie "The Bodyguard," which she also starred in, is one of the 10 biggest-selling albums of all time.
Whitney first performed in San Diego at the Civc Center's Golden Hall in November 1985, and then at the Sports Arena in 1986. She also performed at the Embarcadero in August 1993.
