Whitney Houston, one of the most successful female vocalists of the '80s and '90s, died Saturday, The Associated Press reported. She was 48.
Houston, the most-awarded female act of all time according to the Guinness Book of World Records, set the template for dozens of artists ranging from Mariah Carey to Lady Gaga. She was also a succesful producer, model and actress.
Houson was found unresponsive in her room at the Beverly Hilton and pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. PST, AOL reported.
No cause of death was immediately released. Houston struggled with substance addiction throughout her public life, having undergone rehab as recently as 2011.
