Sad news hit the media all over the world today. According to the Associated Press one of the biggest pop stars Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday February 11, 2011 at a Beverly Hills hotel in California. The information about the unexpected death has not been released just yet, but it most likely to be related to an excessive drug abuse, which this legendary singer and actress struggled with in recent years. Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent" and that the cause of her death is being investigated.
Houston, whose hits included "The Greatest Love of All," died on the eve of the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. She had performed as late as Thursday night at a pre-Grammy event in the area. A pre-Grammy party was scheduled Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton.
Whitney released seven albums in total during her stardom and three film soundtracks; won six Grammy Awards and sold over 170 million albums and singles worldwide. She earned 30 Billboard Awards, 22 American Music Awards and 2 Emmy Awards. She also starred in three movies: The Bodyguard, Waiting To Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife and was due to star in her big screen comeback later this year, a remake of Sparkle. She was the most awarded female act of all time, according to Guinness World Records.
Whitney was one of the superstars I always wanted to see live in concert, now it is too late.
R.I.P. Whitney.
