There are quality wine makers all around the great lakes. Hickory Creek Winery is just one of those wine makers.

Their 2007 Semi-dry Riesling is only one reason to venture into Michigan. This Riesling straddles the line in the sand that separates the crisp dry Rieslings you might pair with Talapia or Trout and the candy-sweet Rieslings you'd open after dinner as a dessert.

The bouquet is full of fresh apples, pears, and honey. Each sip has a slight sweetness, at least at first. Then, it finishes on a crisp, clean note that refreshes the palette. Try it with white fish, or all on its own.

Be sure to check out Hickory Creek Winery. The short drive around the lake is worth the trip.
