White smoke came from the Sistine chapel on Wednesday, after 155 cardinals elected the latest pope in the 224th conclave election. The Pope's name has not yet been released but he is expected to greet the world today sometime before 8pm.
It now remains to be seen who will be the Pope.
The candidates were:
Francis Arinze (Nigeria):If chosen he would be the first African pope in 1500 years. Gelasius I was the last one who reigned at the end of the fifth century.
Christoph Schonborn (Austria):Speaks many languages and studied under Benedict XVI. He favors a dialog between Islam and Catholicism.
Peter Turkson (Ghana): Wants to protect the world from a market of idolatry.

Leonardo Sandri (Argentina)
Angelo Scola (Italy)
Odilo Scherer (Brazil)
