White River Valley Historical Society announces exhibit plans for 2012

As part of our Ozarks cultural heritage discussion it is a pleasure to share this news release from the society via hometowndailynews.com:

(Forsyth, MO) Members of the White River Valley Historical Society have announced plans for five original exhibits in the Society's museum for 2012. Several of the exhibits will also feature educational events and workshops.

The themes of the exhibit for the year will focus on the topics of "Marriage and Courtship", "Native Americans", "Agricultural Roots", "Forgotten Town", and "Commerce".

The first exhibit of the year, tentatively titled "Ozark Romance", will be completed in February. Vintage wedding clothing, pictures, and other memorabilia that might tie into this theme are need, and details of lending the items can be discussed by calling 417-546-2210.

The White River Valley Historical Society is located at 297 Main Street, Forsyth, across from the Judicial Facility, with a museum, research library and bookstore/gift shop. Regular operation hours, weather permitting, are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with no admission charge. The Historical Society's website is www.wrvhs.org.
