Max McHugh has brought a smile to many in the Central high school community.
Saturday afternoon the community will be showing McHugh that they are thinking of her.
McHugh was a key member of the 2011 Red Devils soccer team that won the class C state championship. She scored over 100 goals in her high school soccer career.
She played locked down defense against some of the best offensive players in class C to help Central take home the 2012 basketball state championship.
McHugh is a four time eastern Maine high school sports examiner athlete of the week.
The amazing athletic feats are only part of the story when it comes to McHugh.
She is also class president and class valedictorian.
Her smile and upbeat attitude lifts the spirits of anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her.
Central high school, the Corinth community and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Max was shaken on Wednesday when she was in a car accident.
McHugh broke her leg and has multiple other injuries from the accident.
When the Red Devils host Orono at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon it will be about more than a basketball game.
Sam Brownell was also a key member of the recent state championship teams for Central.
Brownell came up with an idea for everyone attending the Central and Orono game to wear white to support McHugh and her family.
Brownell's sister Erica Brownell set up a Facebook group for the event and said, "We are asking everyone who plans on attending the game to wear a white tee shirt. Putting number 10 on the back would be great if you are wearing a plain shirt. We are doing this to show our love and support for Max and hoping for a quick and smooth recovery. We want the McHugh family to know we are all keeping them in our thoughts. Thanks everyone so much!"
