White joins SR2 for part-time Nationwide Series effort

NASCAR Nationwide Series team, SR2 Motorsports, added another driver to its roster on Tuesday. The team announced that Camping World Truck Series driver, Jason White, has joined SR2 to compete in the Nationwide Series on a part-time basis in 2013.

"I'm excited to be with SR2 Motorsports," White said. "The commitment they've shown to improve and build upon is impressive. They exceeded expectations in their first season and we look forward to raising the bar this season. There's lots of potential and promise as we head into 2013."

The White announcement comes on the heels of another driver announcement from the organization. SR2 Motorsports has already announced that Blake Koch is returning to the team to drive a No. 24 Toyota. One of the team's former drivers, Benny Gordon, has been promoted to team general manager and lead crew chief. He'll be crew chief for Koch on the No. 24 team.

White's specific schedule and number of races in the Nationwide Series has yet to be determined, but plans do have him behind the wheel of an SR2 entry for the series opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Feb. 23.

White last competed in the Nationwide Series in 2007. The one race in which he competed in that season was the 40th of his career. White has been a fixture in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the time since, competing in that series full-time since 2008. In Truck Series competition, White is credited with nine top-fives and 21 top-10 finishes. His best season finish was 10th in the Truck Series championship points standings in 2010.

"I'm thrilled with the addition of Jason White to SR2 Motorsports," car owner Jason Sciavicco said. "He brings a lot to the table in terms of talent and abilities. His experience and determination will certainly be assets to our team as we continue to grow and mature as a team. He as proven to be a tremendous competitor, and we look forward to working with him in 2013."
