'White Collar' takes out 'The Jay Leno Show,' everyone else at 10 o'clock

"White Collar:" stealing ratings away.

So much for the days of broadcast TV trouncing cable every night of the week. On Friday USA announced in a statement that their season-premiere of "White Collar" on Tuesday (read my review here) defeated every other program on TV at 10 p.m. (9 p.m. Central) in the coveted 18-49 perspective. To put that in perspective, the popular heist show took out "The Jay Leno Show" on NBC; CBS and ABC, meanwhile, didn't offer a ton of competition as they aired repeats of "The Good Wife" and "The Forgotten."

For "White Collar" and USA this certainly represents a victory, as the network is working to establish an identity throughout the week. They moved their new show from Tuesday night and also will be putting "Psych" on Wednesdays instead of its longtime Friday timeslot. (I have an exclusive interview with star James Roday right here.)

At this point a couple of years ago, it looked difficult that USA would have life beyond its flagship series "Monk." However, Tony Shalhoub took his final bow last December and the network is still going strong.

Are you happy that "White Collar" premiered so strongly? Let me know your thoughts with a comment below and stay tuned for more news.

We have met White Collar's creator when he has been visiting his parents in CO. It's been amazing to watch the process and see the fruit of their hard work. We love the show and the banter between the characters and look forward to watching it no matter when it is on.
