'White Collar' gets a new boss (Photos)

James: “Mozzie’s safe house is a ten by ten underground bomb shelter in the middle of the woods surrounded by a pig farm and a bog.”

“The Original” is the newest episode of White Collar. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, beware of spoilers. To review the last case file, click here. The season finale of White Collar airs next Tuesday night at 9 on USA, channel 21 for Houstonians.

Peter and Neal go after an art forger! Anytime Neal gets to go back to his forgery routes, it is great to see. This is who Neal is, and he even sculpts in this episode. For the most part, this case is just about proving the hunch to Amanda. There isn’t a lot of searching for a culprit because right away Peter and Neal know who it is. There’s more detecting in the search for the police box. This isn’t a complaint, just an observation. Most of this episode is Neal undercover. There’s not a lot of FBI involvement. What did you think of the case?

Hughes’ shoes have finally been filled by one Amanda Callaway. It’s about time that the writers addressed the job vacancy. Right away, Neal thinks that Amanda may have a connection to Senator Pratt. It’s not unbelievable, but is it necessary? Until the end where she calls him, she makes a good boss, and she isn’t horribly unlikeable. Maybe the finale will show if Amanda’s connection to Pratt is necessary. As of right now, it’s hard to tell. What’s your take on Amanda?

James returns, and everyone agrees it is not the right timing. His return just makes him seem even more questionable than he has already been. What is great is that he comments on Neal’s artwork, and the writers use him to ask the question as to why Neal doesn’t do original artwork. It’s a great tie into the case that Neal and Peter are working on. However, the tension that comes out seems a little forced from a writer’s perspective. They’ve been on fairly good terms recently, and the drama that comes out doesn’t really work. It’s not hard to believe that there is tension, but overall it is like the writers are adding this drama to amp up the season finale. Do you agree?
