'White Collar' breaks out the whiskey (Photos)

Mozzie: “I’ve discovered a new hobby.”

Neal: “Drinking is the opposite of a new hobby for you.”

“Family Business” is the midseason premiere of White Collar. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, beware of spoilers. To review the last case file, click here. Peter and Neal plan to take down Dennis Flynn, who they believe shot Ellen. Of course, they don’t have a case to go after him for murder, so they choose to go after him for counterfeiting and distributing whiskey. It makes sense that a white collar crime unit can’t go after a murderer. Peter claims it is due to lack of evidence, but it also really isn’t their jurisdiction. The arrest is a little rushed, and it doesn’t really seem like Peter and Neal got enough evidence on record to incriminate Flynn. Of course he ends up getting stabbed anyways, so that solves that problem. Did you enjoy the case?

Neal is clearly conflicted after learning that Sam is in fact James, is father. Without a doubt there is going to be a scene or two where Neal opens up to someone about what it means to him that his father is back, and thankfully this conversation happens between Neal and Mozzie. Yes, Peter is a good friend of Neal’s, but Mozzie has been his friend longer. Neal and Peter have so many great serious talks, and so it is nice that Mozzie and Neal get to have one, even though they are both drunk during it. Did you enjoy Mozzie and Neal’s talk?

There are a lot of flashbacks, which aren’t bad. They help give the viewers a visual to go along with James’ story. That being said, it would have been nice to see more audio in the flashbacks instead of just James’ narrations. It would have added a little something to the flashbacks, and it would have made things a little more clear. A lot is crammed into these flashbacks, and it helps that the viewers already know some of it, but it is still a lot to take in. Did you like the flashbacks?
