White Christmas chocolate mousse

See also

Just about every child dreams of a white Christmas and many adults too. There is something about a fresh layer of snow that brings out the splendor of the winter season and holiday. Its beauty is peaceful as well as a refreshing scene to behold.

Another way to enjoy a white Christmas is to watch Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye in the classic film also titled “White Christmas”. It is a lovely way to spend the evening just waiting for the snow to fall while listening to all the joyous songs and wonderful story that unfolds.

Now we are going to make a different white Christmas in the form of a chocolate mousse. A white chocolate mousse! This mousse recipe is so versatile that the ways it can be used to make a variety of desserts is amazing. A creamy, sweet and light mousse that is sure to make everyone say they just love having a white Christmas even if it is the desert that evening.

  • 12 ounces of white baking chocolate, chopped
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 cups of heavy whipping cream, divided

  1. In a medium sized sauce pan add 2/3 cup of heavy cream and the chopped white chocolate.
  2. Cook over a low flame until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once the chocolate is melted remove pan from stove and set aside to cool to room temperature.
  4. While the chocolate is cooling, add the confectioner’s sugar, vanilla extract and the rest of the heavy cream into a mixing bowl.
  5. Beat the cream mixture until soft peaks form.
  6. Then fold the whipped cream in with the melted chocolate.
  7. Spoon into dessert dishes or leave in a glass bowl and refrigerate for 2-4 hours before serving.
  8. Enjoy!

  • Purchase dark chocolate candy tart cups and fill with the while chocolate mousse.
  • Prepare parfaits with Jell-o and the mousse. Add some mousse to the bottom of the parfait glass and then some Jell-o and repeat the layers until the glass is filled.
  • Using the same layering technique, except this time add sliced bananas, strawberries or blueberries for a chocolate and fruit parfait.
  • Place a dollop of this white Christmas chocolate mousse on pies, pound cakes or to top a cupcake that will be eaten right away in lieu of whipped cream.
  • Make an Oreo delight by crushing the cookies and placing on the bottom of a dessert dish and filling the dish with the chocolate mousse. Add a whole Oreo cookie on top.
  • For some extra chocolate flavor and an attractive look add some white chocolate curls on top of the mousse.
  • Ice cream syrups can be drizzled over the top for a different look while introducing another flavor to the white chocolate.
