The 16th Annual Whistlestop Marathon takes off on Saturday, October 12, with Wisconsin runners racing from Iron River to Ashland. Festivities include a 5K, 10K, and half marathon as well. The Whistlestop Marathon is a Boston Qualifier.
Packet pickup is set for Friday, October 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bay Area Civic Center, located at 320 Fourth Street West, in Ashland, Wisconsin. Race-day packet pickup will also be offered, beginning at 6 a.m. on October 12. No race-day registrations will be accepted.
Runners registered for the Whistlestop Marathon or Half Marathon receive free tickets for the Whistlestop Pasta Feed & Lake Superior Fish Boil, scheduled for Friday evening from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for other runners and the general public.
The Whistlestop Half Marathon and the Cruisin’ the Corridor 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run all begin at 8 a.m. on October 12, followed by the Whistlestop Marathon at 9 a.m. From 6:15 a.m. to 7 a.m., shuttle buses transport runners from the Bay Area Civic Center to race starting points. Races finish at the Bay Area Civic Center.
Awards for top finishers include Top 3 Male and Female Runners and Top 3 in various age categories for each race.
Proceeds from the Cruisin’ the Corridor 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run benefit the Vaughn Public Library of Ashland.
At 2 p.m. on October 12, the Little Engine That Could Toddler Run will take place inside the Bay Area Civic Center. No registration is required for this free event.
