Whisper on the Wind by Maureen Lang part of Great War Series

"Whisper on the Wind" is the exciting, historic and utterly charming new novel out from Christian author Maureen Lang. Part of "The Great War Series," "Whisper on the Wind" is the story of Isabelle "Isa" Lassone, wealthy daughter of Belgian-American socialites. Taken to safety in America at the beginning of WWI, Isabelle sneaks back into the country she considers her home, to the Belgian family who raised her to rescue them with the jewels she has smuggled into the country.

But that's not all Isabella has brought with her. She has brought precious articles from the US newspapers to be reprinted in La Libre Belgique, the underground news sheet that gives hope to the Belgian people by its freedom from German censorship and propaganda. Isa discovers her beloved Edward secretly works for the paper, and he will not leave Belgium. Since Edward's mother will not leave him, Isa decides to remain in Belgium with them and help the paper.

"Whisper on the Wind" is definitely a Christian novel, yet it strikes that rare balance of being a book about faith that is not preachy or heavy-handed. In fact, it is a delightful read with enough excitement to make it hard to put down.

"Whisper on the Wind" by Maureen Lang is available from Tyndale House, publishers of a wide range of books by Christian authors such as James Dobson, Charles Colson, Francine Rivers, and Karen Kingsbury. Its most successful publication in recent years has been the Left Behind series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, who came to the Cool Springs Family Bookstore to autograph the Left Behind books. The Left Behind soundtrack included several Christian artists from Nashville, and the Left Behind Tour came to Franklin.
