St. Patrick's Day is more than one month away... but that doesn't mean we can't get an early start on learning all about whiskey! What better way to learn about this timeless liquor than with a whiskey tasting dinner? La Jolla's La Valencia is offering a four-course Whiskey Tasting Dinner with Jameson Irish Whiskey pairings on Wednesday, February 29th.
The words "tasting dinner" may bring about visions of stuffy sommeliers and an uber-formal atmosphere, but La Valencia's Whiskey Tasting Dinner aims for a more relaxed (perhaps whiskey-appropriate?) vibe. Guests will gather at large community tables and enjoy some of Jameson’s whiskeys--including Jameson Gold, Jameson 18yr, Red Breast 15 yr and Midelton’s--paired hearty dishes like Mustard Greens with a Warm Barrel-Aged Vinaigrette, Braised Escolar with a Pine Cone Syrup, Bison Loin with a Wholegrain Mustard and Mango Chutney, and Midelton-Poached Apples in Puff Pastry with Cashew Frangipan.
Fiona Canning, Jameson Brand Ambassador, will be present to provide guests with background information on each of the whiskeys served throughout the dinner. The evening will kick off with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
