Which came first, the egg or the chicken?

Since reading Marilyn von Savant’s article in 17 November 2013 of Parade Magazine regarding which came first ‘the chicken or the egg,’ this author has been researching the matter. Marilyn stated: “I’d say it’s the egg. Why? An animal (such as a chicken) is defined by the kind of creature it is, not by the kind of animal it gives birth to or by the kind of egg it lays. (A horse is a horse even if it gives birth to a mule.)”

I reckon, philosophically or religiously speaking, ‘yes,’ the egg could come first; however, it has been demonstrated per operational science (and thus Biblically), the chicken must come first. All eggs – reptiles, birds, mammals, fish, and duck-billed and other monotremes – all eggs are made of the DNA gunk that makes up the animal.

Eggs are very complex, and there are countless articles concerning the DNA from which they are constructed: “Molecular cloning and functional characterization of chicken cathepsin D, a key enzyme for yolk formation,” “Electron microscopy of DNA molecules from blastoderm nuclei and yolk granules beneath blastoderm of fertilized and unincubated chicken eggs,” and “Chromatin and DNA of yolk granules beneath ‘blastoderm region’ of unfertilized chicken egg.”

A fertilized egg is the DNA of the originating animal; the egg is the construction of the genes of the parent animals (just as any other body part), and not the allele of an animal (two allele – one from the male, one from the female - build each gene). Even though it is claimed factual, the evolutionary process whereby the allele is somehow altered and becomes the positive-expressed character of the gene (which some folks postulate) appears non-substantiated.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, chicken DNA creates the potential to make chicken eggs, and chicken eggs have the DNA to potentially make chickens. There has never been – ever – any other case of this relationship. At creation, God says: “And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.’ So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
