Christopher Hines has made a big splash with San Francisco's Frameline GLBT Film Festival two years in a row.

Last years' "The Butch Factor" not only made the film festival circuit, but it became a popular film on Logo TV and has done well on DVD.

So it's no surprise that Hines was able to easily follow that up with this year's "The Adonis Factor," a perfect companion to last year's "Butch."

While "Butch" showed gay men in more masculine roles at work and at play, "Adonis" focuses more on body image.

Hines was more challenged and intrigued by the topic of his "Adonis" documentary because he feels "masculinity is a hot top of debate and division." Additionally, Hines says that he made both movies as he was personally intrigued by the topics. "There's been a lot of movies on transgender men and that's great," he says, "but there's nothing about just regular men and their sexual expression."

He's also noticed that men are "more challenging to talk about their looks than they are about their masculinity."

The movie shows a cross section of different types of men as well as from different parts of California and Atlanta. Hines does wish he could have included other metropolitan cities but was limited by time and budget.

Hines is thrilled and surprised to have received such positive feedback from both of his films. He says that Frameline is one of the premiere film festivals and when you show a film at the San Francisco festival, the door to other cities and festivals is often opened. He says there's even a terrific hospitality suite in which he can provide copies of his films to other festivals, so that, in the long run, his film will get wider distribution.

"The Adonis Factor" plays Saturday, June 19 at 2pm. To learn more about the film, go to www.theadonisfactor.com. To get tickets, go to www.frameline.org.
