Piano Forte Studios is opening its doors for a free day of music from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, October, 26 on 1335 S.Michigan Avenue. The day features George Vatchnadze performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Kimiko Ishizaka playing Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier.
In honor of Opera America’s National Opera Week which takes place from October 25 through November 3, Lyric Opera of Chicago will share photos on Facebook, Twitter and Lyric's blog. Lyric is also asking its fans to be photographed with a National Opera Week sign while listening to recordings, working out, or whatever best defines their personality. They then can post their photos to their own social media accounts throughout the week, and they can simply tag Lyric Opera and use #operaweek to be included. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will perform in Chicago on December 18, as part of the Harris Theater Presents series with Brandenburg Concertos at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18.
“When we heard the Harris Theater was looking for a special way to commemorate its 10th anniversary, we couldn’t think of anything more celebratory than sharing CMS’s annual tradition of performing all of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos on one program with our Chicago audience,” note CMS Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han. “These six concerti contain some of the most colorful and festive music in the repertoire, and we are thrilled to bring them to Chicago.”
