The economy stinks and prices have gone up on everything including your round of golf on Saturday morning. If you want to know how you can head out to your favorite every weekend without having to pay full price, here are a few of the best options for the Louisville area..
Golfnow.com is one that most golfers that surf the internet have come across. There are a good number of local courses on this website. Often times they will post the normal rates on the weekend mornings, but you can find some good savings from time to time as well on those morning tee times.
The biggest discounts are usually in the afternoon and during the week. Examples of a few of your favorites on Golfnow are Glenmary, Heritage Hill, Quail Chase, and a few others. You can also cross over into Indiana for some discount golf at nearby courses like Chariot Run, Champions Pointe, Covered Bridge, and Old Capital.
There are some of you who like to get out of town and maybe even head down to Lexington, especially in the fall before a football game. There are plenty choices down there as well. You can find tee times inside Lexington at all of their municipal courses, Marriott's Griffin Gate, and Connemara.
The website also does a nice job of covering the surrounding areas like Richmond, Georgetown, and on up 64 closer to Frankfort with courses like The Bull, Gibson Bay, Cherry Blossom, Duckers Lake, and Old Silo among others. Golfnow has a nationwide network where you can find courses across the country.
Golf18Lexington is a website that has some great discounts. The name is a bit deceiving though, because none of the courses they list are actually in Lexington -- they are actually all in the Louisville area. The discounts are probably a little better here than on Golfnow, but the selection is smaller. Local courses included here are Quail Chase, Weissinger Hills in Shelbyville, and both of Fuzzy Zoeller's courses in Souther Indiana, Champions Pointe and Covered Bridge. You can get golf at Weissinger and Quail chase for as little as $14.00, which is a steal.
Teeitup.com is an obscure site that lists local courses like Eagle Creek in La Grange, Midland Trail, Shawnee, and surrounding courses a little further out like Tanglewood and Lafayette.
There are a few ways to get some golf cards/books out there that can give you discounted rates. For a low price you can buy one of these that has thousands of dollars worth of discounts. One book is the KPGA Tee Pass which lists courses in and around Louisville as well as all over the state. Locally, you can also buy the Divot Card. With the Divot Card the prices usually get cheaper the more you play the course by having the pro shop stamp your card until you eventually can get some free rounds. The courses on this year's card in the area are both of the Bardstown Country Club courses, the aforementioned Fuzzy Zoeller courses, Chariot Run, Heritage Hill, Oldham County Country Club, Quail Chase, Valley View, and Weissinger Hills. The Divot Card will cost you $79 bucks but there are some great savings included.
Finally, it never hurts to check the individual official course websites. They don't always put a ton of specials on the website, but you can find them from time to time. Some of the sites may occasionally link to some of these discount sites for discount times. Also, a lot of courses in the area offer birthday specials where you can play for free the week of your birthday. Everybody likes free golf!
