Where is the right-wing, Fox News outrage over the firing of Martin Bashir by MSNBC?
Is the outrage of Bashir's firing anywhere equal to outrage expressed by Sarah Palin and the Fox News crew about the A&E’s decision to suspend Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson indefinitely after he made some inflammatory comments about homosexuality in a magazine?
It's not there and it leads one to believe that the Fox News crowds are phonies.
Sarah Palin posted on her facebook page "Free speech is an endangered species. Those "intolerants" hatin' and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinions are taking on all of us."
Palin then appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Thursday, offering a sharp rebuke of A&E. "This is all about freedom, free speech. You know, so many American families have spilled blood and treasure to guarantee Phil Robertson and everybody else’s right to voice their personal opinions and once that freedom is lost, everything is lost in our country."
Let us get this straight indeed, as Bashir would say. Blood was spilled for Phil Roberston's right to voice his personal opinion. But not for Bashir. As Palin says, "once that freedom is lost, everything is lost in our country."
Is it any wonder that America believes that these Fox News commenters have an agenda that has nothing to do with freedom or liberty, but has to do with what is best for them as individuals. Sarah Palin Incorporated is the most important venture to Sarah Palin and so long as it advances her cause, she will defend it.
When it comes to Martin Bashir, not so much.
Bashir was dismissed for his comments insisting that someone should defecate and urinate in a former vice presidential candidate’s mouth. Does that statement rise to Palin's right to freedom of speech?
Does Robertson’s comment about bestiality and the differences between an anus and a vagina rise to the level of being defended by freedom of speech. Not to mention that homosexuality is part of an array of sinful behavior that guarantees you "won’t inherit the kingdom of God."
One thing is perfectly clear. Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity are 1st amendment phonies.
