What will you do with all those bananas you
bought on sale? Find out here, along with
other fruits.
I have seen a lot more choices in the produce aisle lately and filling my cart with fresh fruit. The big question on many shoppers' minds is: Where should I keep my fruit till I eat it? I can answer that for you right here.
ROOM TEMPERATURE ALWAYS (ON THE COUNTER FRUIT):
If you would like them chilled, put them in fridge for 2 hrs
Apples (less than seven days - otherwise, in fridge)
Bananas
Grapefruit (new one for me!)
Lemons
Limes
Mandarins (I believe this now...just tried it last week...amazing!)
Mangoes
Melons
Oranges
Papayas
Persimmons
Pineapple
Plantain
Pomegranates
Watermelons (Might be due to size, ya think?)
COUNTER TO FRIDGE
These fruits do not stay well in fridge for long - try to use them within 3 days if you like to keep them in fridge.
Avocados
Kiwi
Nectarines
Peaches
Pears
Plums (I personally have been okay with plums in my refrigerator for 5 days....)
REFRIGERATOR ONLY
These fruits will spoil quickly at room temp. However, if your fridge is too cold (it will be in some places) they do not do well, either.
Apples (I put mine in fridge for 3 days then take them out)
Apricots
Asian Pears (must say....I LOVE Asian pears....they have an alcoholic taste when ripe....one of my faves)
All berries
Cherries (are NOT berries...has pit)
Figs
Grapes
COMING THIS WEEKEND: VEGETABLE STORAGE!!!!!!
