Covenant Home School Resource Center (CHSRC) is now in its 13th year of being the only brick and mortar resource center for homeschooling families that has a comprehensive array of services.
Are you new to homeschooling and need advice and encouragement?
Janet Forte and Donna Hamilton work in the office of CHSRC and are homeschool moms themselves who homeschooled their children all the way through high school. They have a wealth of experience (plus lots of common sense) and can help guide you through the homeschool journey and help assuage your concerns.
Are you in a quandary about curriculum materials?
At CHSRC, you can have a hands-on look at a variety of materials so you can feel comfortable with your selections before you buy. Janet and Donna will share their expertise about the materials in the new and used bookstore, plus help you get the very best bargain possible! The store offers a variety of the most popular homeschool publishers, plus numerous ways that you can save on your textbook bill. Ask about how you can earn money for curriculum by spending money on groceries and check out the $1.00 wall! If you are out of the area, you can order by phone or email and have your books sent to you.
Do you want to have your child tested so you can see what he really does well and where he needs improvement?
Iowa testing is offered in March for K-12th graders and the PSAT is offered in October for high schoolers. Group testing with CHSRC is the best bargain around, and many students say it is a fun experience. Some families test year after year, so the kids develop some friendships with others in their testing group. Those in 7th -12th grade who score in the 90th percentile will get a personal invitation to Eta Sigma Alpha Home School Honor Society. (The 2013 early bird deadline to register is February 15, so you need to hurry!)
What do you do about classes for which you want help in teaching?
CHSRC offers a variety of small supplementary classes that the students love! Hands-on science, art, Spanish, pre-school art and literature, high school lab sciences and Algebra provide complements to the other subjects taught at home.
