Trinity and the Pope, a New Orleans inspired restaurant and bar in Asbury Park will celebrate Mardi Gras with a taste of the Big Easy with a blend of traditional and contemporary Cajun and Creole fare. Guests will revel in its Fat Tuesday celebration with New Orleans inspired specials, live music, king cakes, beads, masks and more.
Trinity and the Pope kicks off its Mardi Gras celebration at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, and features Fat Tuesday menu items that include jambalaya, etouffée, garlicky escargot, barbecue shrimp and Cajun mac ‘n cheese. Handmade king cakes, colorful beads and masks will be distributed to revelers throughout the evening, and a chance to win a complimentary dinner for two will be offered. Later in the evening, guests will enjoy New Orleans’-style music and entertainment by The Hot Take Out Band.

How about a little Bourbon Street on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City? Grab a Hurricane, a bowl of gumbo, and break out the beads at Showboat Atlantic City where Mardi Gras isn’t just a day, it’s a way of life. Showboat, which made New Orleans famous with its Mardi Gras Mayhem with King Cake Eating Competition, Swamp Sweepstakes, Big Easy Entertainment, and Food Galore, presents Mardi Gras 2012, a five-day celebration of themed events, entertainment, contests, promotions and plentiful food and beverage offerings.

The French Quarter Buffetis offering Whole Roast Pig, Seafood Jambalaya, and King Cake. Mansion Café will serve Crab Cake Benedict with Cajun Hollandaise and Shrimp Gumbo. Scarduzio’s Steak | Sushi | Lounge is serving Blackened Prime Rib and Shrimp Creole. Casa di Napoli offers Cajun cuisine with the Blackened Bronzino frosted with Crawfish Etouffée. Foundation Room is treating customers with Pecan Crusted Gulf Trout and Sticky Toffee Pudding. And, the House of Blues Restaurant delivers a mouth-watering delight with Oyster Po’ Boys and Shrimp, Crawfish Etoufée and some authentic New Orleans Abita Beer and $5 Bayou Breeze Cocktails.
And for the main event, the House of Blues Casino Party Pit hosts Showboat’s 4th Annual Fat Tuesday King Cake Eating World Championship. On February 21st at 3 p.m., this public event features twelve of the world’s best competitive eaters, as they gather to consume as many dense and sticky king cakes as humanly possible. The winner will receive fame, glory and a part of the $4,000 cash prize for this Major League Eating sanctioned event.
