Where they stand: NASCAR Nationwide Series points after New Hampshire

Regan Smith left New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon last weekend as the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship points leader. He leads Elliott Sadler by eight points and JR Motorsports teammate Chase Dillon by 13.

The top three in the championship battle have distanced themselves, somewhat from the rest of the field, with the fourth-place driver in the standings, Ty Dillon, 21 points behind his nearest competitor, Elliott in third.

Six drivers, counting the leader, are within 100 points of the top of the standings. Brian Soctt is fifth in the driver points standings, with Trevor Bayne holds down the sixth spot.

Here's a look at the driver points standings, heading into Saturday night's EnjoyIllinois.com 300 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.:

Sprint Cup Series regular Brad Keselowski drove the No. 22 Team Penske Ford to victory lane at New Hampshire last weekend, slightly trimming into the Nationwide Series owner points lead held by Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 54 Toyota team. Kyle Busch drove the No. 54 to a second-place finish, so the the points gained by the No. 22 team was minimal. Heading into Saturday night's race at Chicagoland, the No. 54 team still holds a 33 point lead over the No. 22.

The No. 42 Turner Scott Motorsports team is a distant third in the standings, 79 points back. The highest-ranked team with a Nationwide Series championship-eligible driver in its car full-time is the No. 77 JR Motorsports team, with driver Regan Smith. The No. 7 team is 79 points out of first.
