In San Francisco, the question of which restaurant to choose can be a complex one given that we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great food. As if this point needed to be proven once again, the San Francisco Chronicle has posted its new 2013 100 Best Restaurants list, moving it from back behind their paywall so any visitor can access it.
Paragon has posted this link at the top of its “Resources for Living in San Francisco” page. After all, everyone needs to eat – and in this neck of the woods, pretty much anything anyone would want is available, often within walking distance.
Take, for example, Ad Hoc. Thomas Keller’s Yountville companion to the uber-classic French Laundry may not be walking distance for San Franciscans, but it’s certainly worth the drive. Another – and not nearly so far-flung – classic is Foreign Cinema, which not only serves the best in modern American food at its Mission location, but also (as you might imagine) shows movies.
Gary Danko is another mega-classic, and almost certainly one of the priciest restaurants in the city. A little less dear (price-wise, at least) is Mission Chinese Food – and if you haven’t checked it out, you should. When was the last time you had pastrami fried rice?
